Our small flock is made up of East Friesian, Romney, and Border Leicester breeds. They all provide beautiful wool for market crafts and our ewes give us nutrient-dense raw milk. We've found raising sheep to be endlessly entertaining and rewarding.
We utilize management intensive grazing to ensure our sheep get the best possible nutrition with low parasite load, while working to improve the land.
What's the deal with sheep milk?
Although not common in the U.S., sheep milk is quite popular in other countries. The higher concentrations of vitamins and minerals in sheep milk make it even more nutritious than cow milk. It's also the base of cheeses like feta, manchego, and ricotta. Sheep milk is also used similarly to goat milk for soaps and lotions.
How do sheep affect the land?
Like all grazing animals, sheep are fantastic allies in regenerative agriculture. When the grass is growing, our sheep are moving. We're careful to keep them from overgrazing any one spot. Their manure and grazing habits nourish the land, which in turn nourishes them and us.
